Sarah Bernhardt, Yvette Guilbert and Loïe Fuller are not only known for their own artistry: they are also known for the artworks that Toulouse-Lautrec made of them. What probably few people know is that they also made frequent guest appearances on the stages of fin-de-siècle Hungary.

Throughout most of the 20th century, neon lights were the sign of progress and modernity – and behind the Iron Curtain, the illusion of it. Fixed upon the crumbling facades of the once magnificent buildings of post-war Budapest, neon lights beamed banal advertisements and Communist propaganda just like in any other country of the Eastern Bloc.
Portik ‘Supplied Money To Juhász’ From Prison

A former cellmate of Tamás Portik, the one-time head of an oil company involved in illicit deals in the nineties currently serving a 15-year sentence for murder, told commercial TV2 that Portik was supplying opposition Együtt deputy leader Péter Juhász with information and money from prison.
