Opposition parties LMP, Együtt and the Hungarian Liberal Party (MLP) demanded that the government should release the EC’s related report to the public without delay. Erzsébet Schmuck, a lawmaker for LMP, said the party had repeatedly stated concern of suspected corruption surrounding the public procurement system and the selection process of projects.
Hungarian Police Step Up ‘Sober Easter’ Checks

Police will carry out a nationwide operation called ‘Sober Easter’ from Thursday to Monday to monitor the roads for drunk and erratic driving. National Police head of department József Óberling said during a similar operation last year, some 26,000 checks found 600 drunk drivers, a rate of 2.2%. Alcohol consumption played a part in 10% of the accidents last year, he said.
