Preliminary 2013 figures released by the Central Statistical Office on Thursday show that Budapest had 7.8 million guest nights during the year, 5.4% more than in 2012.

This cave was originally home to Saint Istvan, a hermit monk who cured the sick with thermal waters that sprung in front of the cave.

A 6.6 million euro expansion of the Győr- Pér Airport, which serves the needs of German carmaker Audi’s base in Győr, in north-west Hungary, was inaugurated today. The airport can now accommodate Boeing 737 and Airbus 320 aircraft. State secretary Péter Szijjártó said talks with Hungarian low-fare airline Wizz Air were under way on raising the number of destinations on the airport’s timetable.
