Budapest’s annual Jewish Cultural Festival will begin on Sunday and run for a week with concerts, theatre performances and film screenings. The biggest concerts will be held at the Great synagogue on Dohány utca, while theatre productions, concerts and film screenings will take place at the Goldmark Hall and the Rumbach utca synagogue.

The annual Jewish Cultural Festival will offer a wide selection of music and theatre in Budapest, Pécs and Szombathely between August 30 and September 6 this year. The organisers said that the 18th Jewish Cultural Festival will present klezmer, classical music, folk, jazz, rock and blues concerts as well as independent theatre performances.

The number of chain-smokers in Hungary has increased, reports Hungarian newspaper Magyar Nemzet. According to the data provided by the Central Statistical Office, while the number of cigarette smokers decreased from 31 percent in 2009 to 29 percent in 2014, the number of chain-smokers increased in 2014 to 28 percent of all smokers from 27 percent in 2009.
