Mr Melles has been the Country Manager in Hungary for Air France KLM since August 2009. Originally from Székesfehérvár, he was born on 5 January, and attended the Teleki Blanka Gimnazium until 1998. He went on to read Business Studies at the International Business School in Budapest. He then starting his fast-track career with Nestle in the summer of 2002.

"After 5 years of break KLM is pleased to announce the relaunch of its own services between Budapest and Amsterdam. Budapest was previously served in codeshare with and operated by Malév Hungarian Airlines and from 31 October, KLM will be discontinuing its cooperation with Malév.

The hostage, who introduced himself as István Papp, told the radio station that he is being held in a place that resembles a camp where about 100 uniformed people are staying. He could not identify the place.
