Parliament passed a bill banning gambling halls and electronic casinos in a fast-track procedure on Tuesday. Under the new law slot machines may only be operated in three existing casinos, and catering spots may no longer host them. The bill will enter into force on the day following final presidential approval, when former licences will lose their validity.

The cabinet submitted a proposal to Parliament to abolish gambling halls and electronic casinos, which is expected to pass today in a fast-track procedure.
