Hungarians Travelling To Turkey Warned To Take Caution

Hungary’s Foreign Ministry has asked Hungarians to exercise caution if travelling to Turkey after the bombing in Istanbul which claimed 36 lives and injured nearly 150 on Tuesday. The consular services of the ministry issued a notice on Wednesday in which it suggests that tourists check their travel arrangements as many flights are cancelled.

The European Court of Human Rights has ruled on appeal in favour of Hungary’s former Supreme Court president András Baka, declaring that the Hungarian authorities wrongly terminated his mandate before it expired back in 2011. Baka’s mandate as President of the Supreme Court was ended early after the new Constitution was introduced in 2010 and the Supreme Court was replaced by the Kúria.

The Kúria has decided that the right to privacy of police officers outweighs the fact that they exercise public power, upholding the argument that their faces must be covered in press photos. Earlier the Constitutional Court ruled that the faces of police officers need not be covered, as their role as agents of public power outweighs their right to privacy.
