If anything, I’m noticing more cellars adding their bottles to the supermarket shelves, which may simply mean that marketing has upped a notch or two. Some 170 ambassadors and diplomats accredited in Hungary participated in the traditional grape harvest in the northeast Hungarian village of Demjén on Thursday. Minister of Rural Development Sándor Fazekas and State Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Iván Bába welcomed guests at the Egri Korona wine cellars.

Tuesday's meeting of the Hungaricum Committee in Székesfehérvár saw the addition of four new products to the list of Hungaricums: the Csaba sausage, goose liver products, Tokaji Aszú wine and Béres Drops dietary supplement preparation. The Committee also came to a decision on the winning design for the Hungaricum trademark.

At the Decanter World Wine Awards 2013 contest Krisztián Sauska and his winery of Villány, Baranya county, has won a gold medal. In the category of Bordeaux wines, in the subcategory of wines costing more than 5 pounds, a blended wine called Sauska Cuvée 5 2009 received the highest possible award – the first time such an honor is conferred on a Hungarian winemaker.
