Museum of Applied Arts: Ödön Lechner (1845–1914), one of the greatest figures in Hungarian architecture, and certainly its most original, deserves a prominent place among the international talents from the turn of the century. According to tradition, the Lechner family, who had their own coat of arms, had migrated to Hungary from Bavaria.

The Budapest History Museum has joined forces recently with the Matthias Church to bring visitors a grandiose dual exhibition about the profound history of the Buda Castle Coronation Church of Our Lady. Among various objects the exhibition contains a generous sampling of the enormous collection of architectural drawings dating back to the time of the great 19th-century reconstruction.

A Buddha statue found to contain the 900-year-old mummified remains of a monk has been withdrawn by its owner from an exhibit in the Hungarian National History Museum, the museum’s spokeswoman said. Mónika Kiss-Stefán confirmed that the owner had the statue removed, without explanation, on Friday.
