The German government has commissioned Hungarian conductor Iván Fischer, who is music director and chief conductor of both the Berlin Konzerthaus and the Budapest Festival Orchestra, to programme and conduct a commemoration of the 25th anniversary of the Berlin Wall’s collapse on Nov. 9.

One week, 19 concerts, 14 towns, thousands of people. Following its community week in June, the Budapest Festival Orchestra again intends to give free concerts all around the country, taking music to people who rarely get to concert halls or have never been to a classical music concert.

The Bridging Europe arts festival will focus on German culture during its four-day programme starting on Sept. 10 this year. The festival organised for the second time by the Palace of Arts and the Budapest Festival Orchestra seeks to find connections between Hungarian culture and the cultures of other countries through music.
