Budapest Taxi is the first taxi company in Hungary to accept the digital currency Bitcoin as payment, it was announced yesterday. The service is based on technology provided by Hungarian start-up CoinPay, which operates ATMs and provides online exchange for the digital currency.

Almost 72% of Hungarians buy Christmas presents on the internet and close to 43% use mobile devices to buy gifts, according to an international survey ordered by online payments system operator PayPal. The survey, conducted by market researcher GfK, covered more than 5,000 internet users over the age of 18 in five countries. Those buying presents online use several payment methods.

The first such facility was opened at the Keleti railway station on Saturday, followed by a second one at the Déli station on Wednesday. They are equipped with mobile drinking wells, showers and restrooms.
