Female Directors At Titanic Film Festival In Budapest

One of the specialities of this year’s Titanic International Film Festival – running between 4-12th April – is that it offers the work of 14 female directors. The jury will also have a female member, Santa Lingeviciute, the Art Director of the Vilnius Film Festival.

This concert presents two excellent Turkish musicians and introduces Turkish music to the audiences. Composed by Ahmed Adnan Saygun, the ‘Bartók of Turkey’ in 1975, Ritual Dance melts elements of Western music and Turkish authentic folk music in a unique way.

Tosca was an eagerly awaited piece, but its eventual reception was lukewarm. It was only gradually that this fast-paced work, often called an action opera, became a box-office success. Géza Csáth, who wrote about it a few years after the Italian premiere, credited Puccini with a comprehensive and thorough knowledge of theatre, music and the extremely complex psychological processes of reception.
