Kenny Garrett, Eiffel Műhelyház Budapest, 17 November
- 22 Sep 2025 1:24 PM
Garrett’s stunning, powerful solos already stand among the most memorable moments in jazz history.
Kenny Garrett first appeared on the national scene in 1978 as a remarkable new voice, instantly recognised for his gift in shaping deeply emotional melodies. This talent soon led to collaborations with Woody Shaw, Freddie Hubbard, Art Blakey, and Miles Davis.
On his album Sounds from the Ancestors, Garrett draws inspiration from the spirit of African heritage — echoing church services, spoken prayers, field songs, Yoruba chants, and African drumming — while also paying tribute to Roy Hargrove and two pioneering drummers, Art Blakey and Tony Allen, all of whom looked to the past to shape the future sound and direction of jazz.
