One of the highlights of this years' Volkswagen-Dining Guide Award Gala was a new category in which the Dining Guide Römerquelle Sustainability Award was given to the restaurant that implemented a real farm-to-table concept in their operations. The first winner of this to-be-annual award is Pajta, from the small town of Őriszentpéter next to the Slovenian border.

The Vál Valley Light Railway operates in Hungarian PM Viktor Orban’s home village of Felcsút since 2016. The rural development project was supported with EUR 2 million by the European Union. The tourist train ran without any passengers on 17 days in the past year, and generated a loss of 17,4 million (EUR 53.000) since 2016.
