The reasons for this are obscure as the centre of Csepel is ten minutes drive from the Palace of Arts. The island was the first stopping place for the invading Magyars and is called Csepel after Arpad’s groom.

The Farsang ('Carnival' in English) season is upon us in Hungary, and throughout Europe in Christian countries, starting with the feast of the Epiphany on January 6th. Local tradition says if it snows on 6 January, Spring will come early, and if it rains then Spring will be rainy.
