Hungary’s political parties expressed mixed views of parliament’s re-election of János Áder for another five-year term as president of the republic. The co-ruling Christian Democrats said Áder’s record as president guaranteed that he would continue to prioritise bettering the lives of Hungarians and protecting the environment while in office.

I was born in Budapest on 15th February 1970. At the age of five I entered the world of high performance sport as a member of KSI – Central Sports School gymnastics team. In 1986 I joined the Postás Sports Club and then, through a scholarship, continued in the USA with the University of Minnesota’s gymnastics team. It was there that I concluded my active career in elite sport.

Prime Minister Viktor Orbán noted in his opening address to parliament that the unemployment rate was at a record low of 4.4% in the fourth quarter last year, arguing that “full employment is just an arm’s reach away”. Putting Hungary’s economic indicators into historical perspective, Orbán argued that Hungary was on the verge of an economic breakthrough.
