In an effort to save energy, the winter break at Hungarian schools will be longer than usual this year, lasting from Dec. 22 to Jan. 8, the prime minister’s chief of staff, Gergely Gulyás, told a government press briefing.

Patrick is from Dublin. He has been an English teacher for over 25 years and still loves his job. He taught secodary students for 5 years preparing them for the state speaking test here in Hungary.

Marion Merrick came to Hungary in 1982 when the country was still behind the “iron curtain”. She worked for one of the first private language schools that were then opening, and subsequently taught at Pázmány University, ELTE Teaching Training College, and finally at the British International School.
