The government supports developments to the Hungarian Jewish community's religious, charitable and cultural facilities, the construction ministry said on Tuesday after talks between Janos Lazar, the construction minister, and Jewish federation MAZSIHISZ leader Andor Grosz.

The community of The British International School Budapest came together to celebrate the graduation of its Class of 2017 last Saturday at the Intercontinental Budapest. The event was attended by over 250 students, parents, teachers and guests, including Dr Michael Ignatieff PC CM, President and Rector of CEU, and Her Britannic Majesty’s Ambassador Iain Lindsay OBE (pictured below).
Govt Grants Extra HUF 54 Bn To Church Schools

The government has decided to grant an extra 54 billion forints (EUR 173m) from this year’s state coffers to church-run schools and kindergartens, Hungary’s state secretary in charge of church, minority and civil society relations said.

“The ministry has plans to introduce daily singing sessions in Hungarian schools,” Minister of Human Resources Zoltán Balog said following an appearance at the Europa Cantat choir festival in Pécs. According to state-run media, Balog said the singing lessons wouldn’t involve additional coursework because the government intends to decrease the number of classes.
