Budapest Prosecutor Presses Charges In Connection With US Entry Ban

Budapest’s chief prosecutor has raised charges against a suspect believed to have solicited a bribe from US cooking oil producer Bunge in return for influencing Hungarian VAT legislation. Tibor Ibolya said that the suspect known as V.T. had claimed to know Peter Heim, head of Századvég, a think-tank close to the government.

Majority Of Hungarians Oppose Quota System

The majority of Hungarians do not agree with the European Union’s quota system designed to distribute migrants among member states, according to a survey carried out earlier this month by think-tank Századvég. Fully 65% of Századvég’s sample of 1,000 adults said they disagreed with the proposal, with 30% backing the scheme, while 5% were undecided.
