The drivers blocked traffic in two lanes out of six on Elisabeth Bridge with a demand that Uber be banned and regulations enforced. The cabinet at its meeting on Wednesday will consider the option of introducing further sanctions against illegal taxi services, and it will also examine whether the taxi payment system should be electronically connected to the tax office, the National Development Ministry said on Tuesday, reacting to news of a demonstration held in Budapest by taxi drivers against Uber.
Uber Requires Drivers To Get Hungarian Tax Number

All Uber taxi drivers must provide their tax number and personal data in order to stay in the ride-sharing company’s system as of February 1, the company announced yesterday. Also from February 1, Uber will issue invoices on all fares, in the name of the driver, in line with Hungarian regulations.

Uber suggests that its business model be legalised in order to make it possible to pay taxes. The company also recommends that the market be deregulated, arguing that this would create 2,000 jobs for drivers by the end of 2016.
