Britannica International School has appointed Richard Vaughan as the new Principal of Britannica International School to succeed Mr Ken Baines who will retire at the end of next month, July 2014. Mr Vaughan will move to Budapest with his wife and two children this Summer.

Recently there have been more and more mentions of brown bears in Hungary, mainly around the area of the north border. Last time on May 10th was a case when poachers shot a bear in the forest neighboring Salgotarján, not long before this case a bear cub has gotten media attention at Balassagyarmat.

Life comes to a standstill for football fans between 12 June and 13 July, when the 20th World Cup gets underway. Just as in the case of the previous World Cups, the terrace of Club Akvárium will be turned into a grandstand, allowing visitors to the watch the matches on a giant screen, while sampling some handcrafted Hungarian beer, wine, spritzers or Heineken products.

The Hungarian government will spend a 4.7 billion forints on the pavilion representing the country at the 2015 World Expo in Milan, government commissioner Géza Szőcs said on Tuesday. The planned pavilion will “powerfully present Hungary’s themes, and the design is appreciated by both the Italian press and architects,” he said.
