The state secretary for public health has issued a nationwide heat alert from Tuesday till Friday. Heat alerts are issued when the medium temperature is 27 degrees Celsius or above for at least three consecutive days. The regional health services were informed of the heat alert, the human resources ministry said.

The human resources ministry’s public health secretariat has issued first and second-level heat alerts for the whole country and warned of high daytime temperatures continuing until Sunday evening. The national weather service reported that average temperatures in the coming days could reach or even exceed 25-27 degrees Celsius, especially in north-west and south-east Hungary.
