Hungary is facing a national shortage of 1,000 to 2,000 foster carers, a representative of the SOS Children’s Villages charity in Hungary told public news channel M1. Viola Szlankó said the charity has launched a campaign to recruit new foster carers to join the country’s existing 5,500 foster parents.

Retail sales in Hungary climbed by an annual 1.6% in January 2016, preliminary data released by the Central Statistical Office (KSH) show. Retail sales rose by 2.1% when adjusted for calendar year effects. The unadjusted rise was down from 5.0% in December 2015.
