• Újpest Hosts Ferencváros In Budapest Derby

    Saturday will be a special day for Hungarian football fans as Újpest host league-leader Ferencváros at the Ferenc Szusza Stadium in the 8th round of the Hungarian championship. The two arch-rivals clash is always about much more than three points, the players know that as much as the enthusiastic fans and of course, the Hungarian Police. Last September Újpest won over Ferencváros 2-1, but in April this year Fradi hit back with a 2-0 home victory.

    At international military exercise Capable Logistician, outside the Hungarian town of Veszprem, a number of leading scientists and engineers gathered to demonstrate the latest in equipment and technology. High on the agenda was ways to conserve energy on the battlefield, and prevent the need for vast quantities of fuel – often an enemy target in the past. Militaries from various NATO and NATO contributing nations also demonstrated logistic capabilities in a large-scale live fire exercise.

    An international military exercise dubbed Brave Warrior 2015 will be held in Hungary from September 14 to 21, the Defence Ministry said. The exercise, a part of a series of NATO drills in several countries, will involve 1,800 troops. The operations will be headed by Hungarian officers, and will involve servicemen from Slovakia, Ukraine, Slovenia, Romania, Croatia and the US, the ministry said in a statement. The US will contribute the largest contingent, over 500 soldiers, the document added.

    The interior ministry has proposed that the Hungarian government declare a state of crisis in light of the massive influx of migrants, which will be discussed at next Tuesday’s cabinet meeting, government office chief János Lázár told a press conference. Lázár said that findings by the national security cabinet indicate that organised crime and the threat of terrorism are on the rise in Hungary.
