Vajna Calls For Historical Hungarian Movies
There is a lack of movies about Hungarian history, government film commissioner Andy Vajna said on Kossuth Rádió on Sunday. He noted that Son of Saul, Freedom, Love and the soon to be premiered Kincsem have historical themes.

Efforts are ongoing to produce a film focusing on 15th-century military hero János Hunyadi, but the scripts written to date are not good enough, In other remarks, Vajna said the present film subsidy system was built on ruins, as in preceding years the movie profession had discredited itself.

The profession needed a new direction and now there is a system that works and that everyone understands, he said.

He noted that Hungarian films have won major prizes at almost every major festival recently.
