Stricter Regulation Of Bus Transport For School Trips In Effect
Since January this year, stricter regulations for buses used at school trips have been in effect, the state secretary of the human resources ministry said.

Speaking ahead of the “school trip season”, Bence Rétvári said students can only be transported with vehicles younger than 13 years, and the company has to certify the drivers are not suffering from sleeping disorders.

Buses on foreign trips must be off the road between 11 pm and 4 am, and the drivers must be allowed appropriate resting periods, he said.

The regulations are mandatory to all schools, Rétvári said. The regulations have been tightened after a bus carrying students and teachers of a Budapest secondary school crashed and caught fire on the Venice-Verona motorway in January 2017, killing 17.
