VéNégy Festival Opens
Hungarians have an obligation to know and respect the culture of their neighbours, Péter Fekete, state secretary of the culture ministry said at the opening of the VéNégy Festival, a closing event of Hungary’s rotating Visegrad Group presidency, which Slovakia is to take over on July 1.

Slovak Culture Minister Lubica Lassakova said at the event in Vác, in northern Hungary, that culture is a bridge between peoples. Slovakia as the group’s next president will continue Hungary’s work, she said.

The event was also attended by Bence Rétvári, state secretary at the Hungarian human resources ministry and the chief patron of the event, as well as Czech deputy culture minister Petra Smolikova and Polish deputy culture minister Pawel Lewandowski.
