The list price of the 33 kW (or 44 horsepower) vehicle with a top speed of 125 km/h is Ft 6.5 million, but buyers taking advantage of the Ft 2.5 million state subsidy pay just below Ft 4 million.
Renault will launch its new low-cost model on the European market in 2021, but it allowed pre-orders first in Hungary.
The government’s Ft 5 billion EV subsidy scheme was drawn down in just days when it was announced in May.
Under the revised scheme, subsidies went up from Ft 1.5 million to Ft 2.5 million, but only for cars costing less than Ft 11 million. The government later upped the subsidy fund by a further Ft 882 million.
