Cancelled: International Book Festival In Budapest Millenáris
Update: Taking into account the government's decision, the interests of the population, and public health, the organisers of 27th International Book Festival Budapest have cancelled the event.

From the organisers: "The Hungarian government declared a state of emergency because of COVID-19 Coronavirus today. The declaration banned indoor events with more than 100 people and outdoor events with more than 500 people from now on.

Taking into account the government's decision, the interests of the population, public health aspects, we regret to announce that the 27th International Book Festival Budapest, scheduled for April 23-26. 2020, will be postponed and preparations for the event will be suspended. 

In the coming days we will send detailed information to all of our exhibitors about the new date of the Book Festival. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation!"

The guest of honour country would have been Spain, the guest of honour author would have been the Nobel Laureate Svetlana Alexievich.

We have no information on whether Ms Alexievich would be able to accept a new invitation to the festival organised at a later date."

International Book Festival Budapest, held for the 27th time in 2020, is a recognized event of the international world of books, as one of the important professional and intellectual forums of the region.

International Book Festival Budapest traditionally invites the most renowned authors of the world. Award ceremony of Budapest Grand Prize and the on-stage conversation with the prize-winner will be a special event of the upcoming Book Festival.

International Book Festival Budapest is a major fair with about tousands visitors annually, about 50.000 titles and hundreds of new publications.

The Guest of Honor Country is going to be Spain, the Guest of Honor Author the Nobel Laureate  Svetlana Alexievich.
