Telenor Rebrands as Yettel in Hungary - Rates & Services Remain The Same
Telenor Magyarország changed its name to Yettel Magyarország from March 1, CEO Peter Gazik announced in Budapest.

The name change will affect the telecom subsidiaries of Czech group PPF in Hungary, Serbia and Bulgaria, which are still operated under the Telenor brand name.

PPF purchased Telenor Magyarország in July 2018.

The name change is proof that market expansion is planned in these countries, Gazik added.

Yettel is a name that is easy to remember and has no negative meaning in any of the regions, as it does not mean anything, the company added.

The final decision on the new name was made in Prague at the end of last year, after the company tested potential new brands in the usual ways, conducting focus group research. The company also tested the name Laa.

Telenor’s blue and white logo and colours will be replaced by the lime green of Yettel.

Subscription rates and services will remain the same.
