Watch: Orbán Criticises Zelensky Following Fidesz Election Win
The 58-year-old right-wing Hungarian Prime Minister has been branded Vladimir Putin’s sole European ally for refusing to condemn the Ukrainian invasion by Russia, reports the UK's 'Evening Standard'.

In his victory speech on Sunday the PM said to his Fidesz party supporters in Budapest, “The whole world has seen that Christian democratic politics, conservative civic politics and patriotic politics have won. We are telling Europe that this is not the past, this is the future.

We won a victory so big that you can see it from the moon, and you can certainly see it from Brussels,” added Mr Orbán, who has often been condemned by the European Union for overseeing the unravelling of democracy and alleged corruption, writes the London based media.

Mr Orbán also criticised Volodymyr Zelensky, mocking the Ukrainian president as one of the “opponents” he had to “overpower” during his campaign, the Evening Standard noted.

Regarding the war in Ukraine, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said the Western world, led by the United States, was trying to defeat Russia without getting directly involved in the conflict by “leaving it to the Ukrainians to fight the war”, once the Russian president, violating all principles of international law, had tried to prevent Ukraine from joining NATO.

Prime Minister Viktor Orbán told participants of the Peace March in Budapest on Saturday that giving up on peace meant "choosing to die for the cause of Ukraine", but "we do not want to shed blood for Ukraine, we will not go to war, and we will not die for somebody else on foreign soil", he said.
