School Boards Issue Warnings Against Civil Disobedience by Teachers in Hungary
School boards are sending out warnings and, in some cases, letters of resignation to teachers en masse, HVG reports.

For example, 18 teachers at the Brasó utca primary school who went on strike earlier this week received a letter from the school board informing them that should they engage in civil disobedience again, they will be fired. “Please refrain from similar behaviour in the future”, the letter says.

HVG writes that 11 teachers of the Pasaréti Szabó Lőrinc Hungarian-English bilingual school in the Second District received a similar letter. For one teacher it is already the second warning, but the teacher said that s/he will engage in civil disobedience for the third time.

Parents and students will form a human chain in front of the Szent László secondary school in the Tenth District on Friday, because they heard that one of the teachers was going to be fired.

A similar action will take place at Karinthy Frigyes secondary school in the 18th District, where the head of the school, Krisztina Rábel gave the principal 24 letters addressed to rebellious teachers.

Another 38 teachers at the Ferenc Rákóczi secondary school in the Second District received such a letter.

According to several educators, at least 1,000 teachers who participated in civil disobedience will receive similar letters.
