‘Cash-Back' Now Available from Shops in Hungary
Customers will be entitled to receive a total of Ft 40,000 in cash from cashiers in shops twice a month when paying by card, under a bill endorsed by Parliament’s legislative committee.

The bill is part of a financial legislation amendment package.

It is not known whether the cash-back service will be available only to those who make purchases.

The value of cash withdrawals rose by less than 3% year-on-year in the third quarter, indicating that consumers prefer electronic payment methods, Portfolio writes.

The website adds that the new measure makes cash registers in all shops a limited-use ATM, which may be especially useful in areas where there are fewer ATMs, for example in small villages where there is no post office.
