Price Cap Rules Violated by Majority of Shops in Hungary
The government still expects all retailers to comply with government mandated price caps, the government spokeswoman told a press conference.

Alexandra Szentkirályi said there was “no excuse” for anyone to disregard the caps on the price of basic foodstuffs.

Last week, the consumer protection authority carried out inspections in 468 outlets, and only in 99 stores were there an absence of violations of the regulation, she noted. Consumer protection procedures were launched in 369 cases.

Various shortfalls included inadequate information on the price cap and the inability of a retailer to prove that they had complied with all provisions.
