Healthcare in Hungary Boosted by Investments Supported by HUF 87 billion of Gov't Grants
Government grants have supported HUF 87 billion of investments to boost Hungary's self-sufficiency in producing healthcare supplies since the launch of a targeted scheme in the summer of 2020, Minister of Finance Mihály Varga said last week, according to portfolio.hu.

The funding has supported 83 investments at 67 locations by 57 companies, Varga noted.

Production at many of those investment sites has already started, while projects involving R&D are ongoing, he added. The investments boosted the turnover of grant winners by HUF 22.5 billion last year and will add HUF 170 bln-180 bln to sales in the future, he said.

In addition to boosting the domestic production capacity of personal protective equipment (PPE), the grants have supported the manufacturing of microscopes, mobile X-ray machines, ventilators, and vaccines, he added.
