Latest Retail Sales Down 12.6 % in Hungary
Retail sales in Hungary fell by an annual 12.6% in April, when adjusted for calendar year effects, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) said.

According to unadjusted data, retail sales fell by 13.6%.

Adjusted retail sales were down 0.9% on the previous month.

Adjusted food sales fell by 8.6%, non-food sales dropped 10.7% and vehicle fuel sales were 22.9% lower.

A detailed breakdown of the data shows adjusted retail sales fell in all types of shops, with the exception of drugstores and pharmacies where they rose by 5.4%.

In absolute terms, retail sales came to 1,479 billion forints (EUR 4.0bn).

Food sales accounted for 49% of the total, non-food sales for 35% and sales at petrol stations for 16%.

For the period January-April, retail sales dropped an adjusted and unadjusted 10.4% year-on-year.

Adjusted food sales fell by 8.2%, non-food sales dropped 8.1% and vehicle fuel sales were down 20.2%.
