Key European Leaders Unite at Meeting in Budapest to Ask Trump Not to Disrupt Current Global Order
European leaders holding a meeting in Budapest on Thursday urged US president-elect Donald Trump not to launch trade wars, to sustain the funds extended to Ukraine and abstain from disrupting the current global order, Reuters reported.

Trump’s victory means a challenge for Europe, opens an era full of huge uncertainty in a period when the continent is already fighting for unity and its two biggest powers, Germany – whose government is in a crisis now – and France have weakened.

European Council president Charles Michel said he trusts in American society, while he and others urged Trump to continue to support Ukraine.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said it is now up to the EU to be united. No single EU member state can grapple with the upcoming challenges on its own, she said.

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said it is important to understand that Ukraine’s situation is a problem that extends beyond Europe. He called Russia’s partnership with North Korea a threat not only for the European part of NATO but also for the US.
