Construction and Transport Minister János Lázár promised Ft 1 billion in state aid when he visited the city on January 15, as he pointed out that the facility is a major tourist attraction.
The spa, located in an outer district of Miskolc, was heavily damaged by fire last September due to an electrical short circuit.
Lázár declared that the baths must be reopened by June 30.

The cabinet will provide Ft 1 billion to ensure that the Miskolctapolca cavern baths that burnt down due to an electric short-circuit in September, may be reopened by June 30, Construction and Transport Minister János Lázár told a press conference in Miskolc.
The baths are an important source of revenue for the town as they generate more than Ft 1 billion annually.
Lázár also announced that Ft 16 billion has been reassigned this year for the reconstruction of the Diósgyőr Castle in Miskolc and for preserving its tower.
Stating that the government aims to develop marginal settlements and regions, he said the Miskolc-Nyíregyháza-Debrecen triangle will catch up with the EU average.
