Gourmet Festival in Debrecen, 13 - 15 June
- 11 Jun 2025 5:46 PM

László Papp, the Mayor of Debrecen, said that this year 23 renowned Hungarian restaurants will be presenting themselves at the gourmet festival, and the country's most famous chefs, including Michelin-starred chefs, will be cooking.
He added that the event attracts great interest year after year, even though "it is not easy to get the best gastronomic workshops in the country moving."
Zita Dobos, director of Főnix, the festival organiser, highlighted that a container kitchen will be set up in Nagyerdő, where chefs will welcome visitors with show cooking and tastings.
He said that this year's festival is organized around movie food, so dishes from iconic films will also be prepared on the shores of Lake Békás.
As examples, he mentioned Bilbo's perfectly fried smoked trout served by Végállomás Bisztró & Wine, Dobd viszá, Bendegúz plum dumplings with almond mousse from Talu restaurant, Harry's glass cream dessert and butterbeer panna cotta prepared by Freedom Restaurant & Skybar, but the marrowbone from the movie Sinbad will also be on offer.
The gourmet festival was visited by almost six thousand people last year, and this year the audience is expected to have an even more diverse offering, the director added.
The organisers aim to ensure that no one is left out of the gourmet experience, so there will be a selection tailored to those with food sensitivities and a children's menu in most places, in addition to special children's programs and interactive cooking shows awaiting visitors, said Zita Dobos.
The culinary experiences are complemented by live music concerts every evening: on June 13th, the Wolf Kati Band, on the 14th, the Tóth Vera Band, and on the 15th, Balázs Bolyki and B4 will perform.
