New Developments Inaugurated at Hungaroring Race Track
Renovated buildings were inaugurated on Thursday at the Hungaroring race track in Mogyorod, on the outskirts of the capital, as part of a multi-phase upgrade project.

Track operator Hungaroring Sport’s CEO-president Zsolt Gyulay said "a dream cherished for almost 10 years is coming true" by being able to take over the new buildings and the renewed infrastructure. He noted that the originally planned HUF 78bn budget was not exceeded.

Gyulay said the company has been profitable from ticket revenues 13 times out of the past 15 years, and it does not need state support to maintain the track and organize races.

He said the stands still need to be unified, and the media parking lot needs to be renovated.

The renovation of Turn 14 and the crash area of the track is essential for the future hosting of the Hungarian Grand Prix, and they are confident that they will be able to do this in the future.

State secretary for sport Adam Schmidt said the Hungarian Grand Prix "has been the most visited sporting event in Hungary for 40 years now, with hundreds of thousands of people coming to watch every year, and around 80pc of visitors coming from abroad".

The state secretary noted that tickets for this year’s race have sold out in November and said that last year the Formula 1 race contributed with HUF 26bn to Hungary’s GDP.
