Luxurious 'Orient Express' Train to Soon Depart from Budapest

The iconic Orient Express is set to depart from Budapest’s Nyugati Railway Station at 5:30 p.m. on the first Sunday of June, arriving in Békéscsaba just over two hours later, according to Magyar Nemzet. The stop in South-Eastern Hungary, however, is not guaranteed, as exact times may change.
Known as the “rolling palace,” the Orient Express is steeped in history. First launched in 1883, the original route connected Paris and Constantinople (now Istanbul), taking passengers on a lavish 80-hour journey through six different empires.
With its opulent interiors, fine crystal, silk linens, and gourmet dining, it quickly became a symbol of European luxury travel.
Today, the train continues to operate in restored 1920s style, offering a range of journeys between London, Paris, Venice, and beyond. Tickets start at €3,450 per person for a Historic Twin Cabin and rise to over €9,800 for a Grand Suite, complete with private bathrooms and round-the-clock service.
In 2025, the operator will launch a new scenic route from Paris to Tuscany, ending at the elegant Castello di Casole in the Italian countryside.
All voyages include fine dining, vintage surroundings, and attentive stewards, maintaining the golden age glamour the Orient Express is famous for.
Though Békéscsaba may or may not be on the confirmed route this time, Hungary remains part of the storied journey that continues to captivate luxury travellers from around the world.
