Bartók Feszt’ Returns to Celebrate Community & Creativity in Budapest, 30 August
- 26 Aug 2025 8:51 AM
This year’s theme — “Togetherness and Sharing” — underscores the idea that vibrant cities are built not only through infrastructure, but through everyday acts of cooperation and care. The festival invites attendees to think about their role in shaping Budapest as an inclusive and engaging urban space.
Music for All Ages
Live music is a major highlight, with the Zsiga Stage hosting performances from the afternoon into the evening. This year’s lineup includes legendary Hungarian singer Kati Kovács, rising star Cserihanna, as well as Bongor, Kolibri, and the genre-blending, multilingual band Bohemian Betyars.
Earlier in the day, the Dezső Stage caters to families and children, featuring interactive shows from Eszter Bíró, the Rutkai Bori Banda, and storyteller Danny mesél—offering a warm and playful start to the festivities.
Community in Action
A key feature of the festival is the Civil Quarter, located in the garden of the Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME). This space brings together grassroots organisations working on sustainable living, community-building, and social innovation.
Visitors can explore interactive booths and meet groups like Humusz Szövetség, Repair Café, WWF, Cohousing Budapest, KÉK, MiUtcánk, and the Bartók Boulevard Association, among others. Whether it's fixing broken items, learning about environmental initiatives, or discovering ways to get more involved in local life, the Civil Quarter offers practical ideas and personal connections.
Hands-On Activities & Urban Culture
Beyond music and advocacy, Bartók Feszt’ also features a wide range of hands-on activities throughout the day. From flea markets and open workshops to collaborative crochet, flag-making, and creative activities for kids, the festival encourages active participation. Attendees aren’t just there to watch—they become part of a collective experience.
The event echoes a way of life many find themselves missing in modern cities: neighbours helping each other, skills being shared, and people taking the time to talk and collaborate. Bartók Feszt’ is both a celebration of that ethos and a reminder of how much can be achieved through cooperation.
Date & Time: Saturday, 30 August 2025, from 9:30 to 23:45
