Soda Nostalgia: Legendary Soft Drink Makes Come Back in Hungary
- 9 Sep 2025 12:47 PM
Róna was a household name in Hungary during the 1970s and 1980s, and for decades it was among the most popular choices on the local soft drink market.
For its re-release, the drink is available in cola and orange flavours, sold in 2-litre PET bottles. The company says the move responds to rising demand for retro products, giving today’s consumers a taste of what many Hungarians grew up with.
Márka Üdítőgyártó has invested more than HUF 12 billion (about €30 million) in developments since 2018. By 2025, the company employs 184 people and reports annual net sales of over HUF 24 billion (€60 million), with production capacity continuing to expand.
Alongside the revived Róna brand, Márka currently produces around 80 different soft drinks, including familiar Hungarian names such as Márka, Traubisoda, Gyöngy, Adrenalin, and Kobra.
