New Poll: Fidesz Ahead by 400,000 Votes If Election Held Now
If Hungary's election were held now, Fidesz would win 47 percent of the vote, up from 46 percent in August, while the opposition Tisza Party trails at 40 percent, according to a Nezopont Institute survey of 1,000 respondents conducted between Nov 24 and 26.

The ruling party's housing subsidies, 14th-month pensions, tax cuts for businesses, and military bonuses, along with the prime minister's meetings with US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, had boosted its support, the institute said.

Meanwhile, Tisza's momentum had stalled amid data leaks and backlash over its proposed "Tisza tax", though it gained 2 points from the Two-Tailed Dog Party, the think-tank added.

With a 75 percent turnout, Fidesz would lead by 400,000 votes, it said.

Our Homeland polled at 7 percent -- just above the 5 percent threshold to enter parliament -- while DK and Two-Tailed Dog lag at 3 percent each, risking exclusion from parliament.

Fully 42 percent of all voters backed Fidesz, versus 33 percent for Tisza, the think-tank said.
