The government is supporting the investment, which will create 30 jobs and secure 200 existing workplaces, with HUF 4.8bn, Szijjarto said.
SUGO FOOD will build a new chips plant and boost pepper and broccoli processing capacity, he added.
The base is the second-largest producer of tortilla chips in Europe, with 90pc of feedstock coming from local suppliers, Szijjarto said. Local pepper growers will also benefit from the expansion, he added.
He noted that SUGO FOOD has a close cooperation with the Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences (MATE) to boost potato yields.
