Asset Declaration System in Hungary 'Among Strictest in Europe'

Hungary's system of asset declarations is one of the most stringent in Europe, the parliamentary group of opposition Fidesz said in a statement on Wednesday.
The party will support all regulations helping to shape a comprehensive and transparent asset declaration system, the statement said.
At the same time, the plan to task an "authority born on the orders of Brussels" to control the mechanism in the entire apparatus including judges, prosecutors and lawmakers is fundamentally flawed, it said.
The government submitted to parliament late on Tuesday legislation amendments necessary for accessing European Union funds.
The bill tightens the rules governing the filing and verification of asset declarations and expands the powers of the Integrity Authority in that field.
