He joined the DIY retailer Bricostore as Logistics Director for Hungary and Croatia and took on the implementation and development of 10 000 sqm warehouses as well as the road and seafreight management. In 2010, he became the store Director of Fot, severely affected by the crisis, where he is leading a team of 85. Despite of the crisis which harms Hungary nowadays, he succeeded, after a broad restructuring, to come back on a positive trend of turnover.
He is aiming forth to ground a steady growth helping to strengthen the profitability of the store.
1. When did you arrive in Hungary and what brought you here?
I first came as a trainee in 2000 and stayed for 6 month, then I returned on 24 February 2004 and I have been here ever since.
2. Have you ever been an expatriate elsewhere?
Only Hungary, then Hungary again ;)
3. What surprised you most about Hungary?
The modern airport when I first arrived, I expected somthing quite different
4. Friends are in Budapest for a weekend - what must they absolutely see and do?
Castle Hill, the Thermal Baths such as Lukács since it is not that touristy as Széchényi. To visit Óbuda, and its hidden but friendly squares. Walk around the 5th district behind Parliament towards Margit bridge – there are so many nice buildings there. Also the totally renovated Baross utca which feels like its soul has returned and is so worth visiting.
5. What is your favourite Hungarian food?
Brassói – especially in the Pesti Vendéglő on Paulay Ede utca.
6. What is never missing from your refrigerator?
Magyar sör.
7. What is your favourite Hungarian word?
Tök jó
8. What do you miss most from home?
Honestly? Nothing.
9. What career other than yours would you love to pursue?
Formula 1 racer.
10. What's a job you would definitely never want?
Cook
11. Where did you spend your last vacation?
In the mountains in Austria.
12. Where do you hope to spend your next holiday?
Portugal
13. What was your favourite band, film, or hobby as a teen?
Band: Pink Floyd
Film: 'L' aile ou la cuisse' (The Wing or the Thigh) with Louis De Funes
Hobby: Belgian comics like Tin Tin.
14. What can't you resist?
Cheese – any kind of French Cheese. I also like English cheese as well, there are many good ones, for example Stilton.
15. Red wine or white?
Red – such as Trió from the Takler Winery, also I like Kadarka.
16. Book or movie?
Book
17. Morning person or night person?
Night
18. Which social issue do you feel most strongly about?
Poverty in Hungary – how many people here don't earn enough to even pay their basic bills.
19. Buda or Pest side?
Pest
20. What would you say is your personal motto?
If you don’t try it, you will never do it.
