Tourism accommodation providers in Budapest have already received close to 340,000 guest night bookings for August 19-27, when the World Athletics Championships will take place in the capital, the Hungarian Tourism Agency (MTÜ) said.

Marathon tourism in Budapest generated direct spending of 2.7 billion forints and tax revenue of 880 million forints last year, National Economy Minister Mihály Varga said on Monday, presenting a study by consultancy KPMG commissioned by the Budapest Sport Office.
