An elderly woman died of injuries caused when she was struck by a car driven by Jobbik MP Gábor Ferenczi on Tuesday morning in Ajka. Veszprém county police are examining the circumstances of the accident. The Jobbik caucus said Ferenczi did not see the 93-year-old woman as she was pushing her bicycle across the road, because the sun was shining in his eyes.

The head of an alumina plant in western Hungary has gone on trial charged with negligence following the country's worst chemical disaster in October 2010. Ten people were killed when a holding reservoir at the plant near the town of Ajka collapsed causing a massive spill of toxic sludge.
