Tickets for the productions of the Hungarian State Opera and Hungarian National Ballet, which will make their U.S. debuts October 30-November 11, are available beginning Monday, April 16, 2018. Early ticket buyers will receive a 30% discount through May 16, 2018.

Francophone Festival Brings French Style To Hungary

Film screenings, 23 music concerts, an opera ballet performance, literary programmes and exhibitions will be held at this year’s Francophone Festival. Beginning on February 28, the month-long festival will be held in Budapest and ten major Hungarian cities.

The Nutcracker, the ballet version of the most popular fairy tale of all time, is able to enchant each new generation and engage them in thought: they can simply enjoy its visual world or be compelled to believe that, in order to find happiness, everything has a soul, and every object has a fate. The belief of children changes the world, and adults can learn from them: one must feel, not just see.

Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker has for decades been an essential part of the Opera's run-up to Christmas. In memory of Vasili Vainonen and Gusztáv Oláh, we first presented for Christmas of 2015 a newly buffed-up show that follows classical ballet traditions while still conforming to the requirements of 21st century dance and set design.

Born in Rome and received early dance training at the “Centro danza la Sylphide” before moving to London to complete his studies at the "Royal Ballet School" of London.
